How to Remove Stains From Nylon Mesh Shoes

Post time: Aug-19-2022

Just like any article of clothing, shoes can stain quite easily. A variety of different substances can cause stains, such as red wine, rust, oil, ink and grass. If you have stains on your nylon mesh shoes, you can employ a range of techniques to get rid of them. You should be able to successfully remove most moderate stains from the shoes. While you may not be able to completely remove particularly stubborn stains, you can at least significantly improve their appearances.

Things You'll Need
Water
Bucket
Laundry detergent
Toothbrush
Paper towels
White vinegar
Stain remover

Step 1
Fill a bucket with warm water and the appropriate portion of mild laundry detergent (according to detergent package).

Step 2
Remove the laces and sole inserts from your nylon mesh shoes. Most shoes have inserts that comes out quite easily. If your inserts aren't easy to remove, they may be glued to the bottom of the shoes. Simply leave them in if that's the case.

Step 3
Soak the shoes in the solution for 20 minutes. This will allow the stains to lift out of the nylon mesh. If the stains are still dark, allow them to soak for another 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 4
Use a toothbrush to scrub the stains. While you can use any type of cleaning brush, a toothbrush's gentle bristles won't damage mesh. Apply firm pressure to penetrate deep stains.

Step 5
Rinse the shoes thoroughly with cool water. Make sure all the soapy solution is removed from the shoes.

Step 6
Stuff the nylon mesh shoes with paper towels. This will maintain the shoes' shape as they dry. Opt for white paper towels as colored paper towels may cause ink to bleed onto the wet shoes. Let them air dry, preferably outside, for 24 hours.

Step 7
Get rid of salt stains by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Use the toothbrush to scrub the stains.

Step 8
Treat blood stains by immediately soaking the shoes in cold water. Do not use warm or hot water as this will set the blood stain.

Step 9
Apply a stain remover directly to the stained area on your nylon mesh shoes. You can find stain removers in most grocery and drug stores. Virtually all kinds should be appropriate for nylon mesh materials.

Tip
Be gentle when scrubbing the shoes. Mesh can rip quite easily.

Warning
Do not use bleach if your shoes are not white. It will ruin the appearance of any other color.
